SAP LeanIX Jira integration has been a key feature of our solution for a long time, but this capability will soon become even more essential. Discover our upcoming enhanced Jira integration and how it will level up your enterprise architecture execution.
SAP LeanIX co-founder, Andre Christ, always said that our solution wasn't a Swiss Army Knife. It isn't designed to be a complete monolith tech stack for IT teams, but an easy-to-use tool for enterprise architecture management.
Where SAP LeanIX gains the most value, however, is in integrating with the rest of your IT toolset. That way, EA can have impact across your entire IT landscape.
By connecting with all your organization's digital tools, SAP LeanIX can make a continuous assessment of your IT landscape based on what's actually happening in your infrastructure. Then, it can output insights and analysis to everywhere it needs to be seen.
This includes Jira. By connecting to this industry-standard IT project management tool, you can track progress on major transformation initiatives without leaving SAP LeanIX.
To make this even easier, we're levelling up our Jira integration with a range of new native features. We plan to upgrade our Jira integration early in 2026, but in the meantime, let's explore the new capabilities you'll soon be able to leverage.

Effective enterprise architects sit at the intersection of execution and long-term IT strategy. They design the target architecture needed to meet strategic goals, such as migrating applications to the cloud, and ensuring those goals align with the reality of your IT landscape.
Transformations, however, aren’t delivered in a single sprint. They happen through multiple projects, and often in different teams, geographies, and domains.
A new delivery channel might require accounting and manufacturing apps to integrate with it. On the other hand, a new cloud-based ERP might trigger changes in BI tools, data governance, and compliance processes.
While delivery teams focus on their own slice of work, enterprise architects need to see the entire picture:
EAs have to piece together work items from across multiple Jira boards to understand how agile execution is progressing towards long-term transformation initiatives. This can mean tool-switching, work duplication, and a lack of visibility.
To resolve this, our new native integration between SAP LeanIX and Jira will soon allow you to track the progress of complex and diverse architecture changes from within SAP LeanIX. It will also link from Jira tickets to the SAP LeanIX fact sheets that explain the purpose of the task.
Once the new integration is live, you'll be able to connect your instance of SAP LeanIX Architecture and Road Map Planning to your Jira instance using an API token and your user credentials. You can then map fields between your chosen Jira work items and SAP LeanIX fact sheets.
This allows enterprise architects to turn their long-term strategic architecture planning into smaller tasks that can be assigned to execution teams. You can then ensure your plans come to fruition and you have visibility into your progress and results.
This helps ensure enterprise architecture is more than an 'ivory tower' exercise. By aligning Jira with SAP LeanIX more closely, you can ensure your EA vision is synchronized with real execution tasks being worked on by hands-on teams.
Of course, large-scale transformation projects rarely fit neatly into one Jira board. The high-level project will be broken down in Jira into epics, tasks, bugs, and tickets; all at different stages.
To keep track of this within SAP LeanIX, the new integration will allow you to:
By connecting agile work management with enterprise architecture planning, our upgraded integration gives architects execution visibility. and connects multi-project execution to one parent initiative in the architecture road map.
This reduces manual effort and duplicate data entry, avoiding tool-switching, delays, and blind spots. It allows Agile project management and enterprise architecture to work together seamlessly.
We aim to enhance our Jira integration early next year. We'll keep you informed about the new integration as we get closer to the time.
