AI Enterprise Architecture Assistant: now included in SAP LeanIX

Written by Admin | June 23, 2026

The SAP LeanIX AI Enterprise Architecture Assistant is now live. Discover AI-powered enterprise architecture.

Most architecture questions don't need a meeting. They need access to the right data.

  • How many architecture decisions have been proposed but not yet accepted?

  • Which applications support a particular business capability?

  • Has anything been decided about our API strategy?

  • What does our existing documentation say about the integration we're now reconsidering?

None of these questions require deep architectural judgment. All of them require pulling information from somewhere: the inventory, the decision log, a wiki page, a stakeholder's inbox.

The judgment work, the part that makes EA strategically valuable, comes after the assembly. The Enterprise Architecture Assistant in SAP LeanIX is built to take the assembly off your plate.

Introducing the Enterprise Architecture Assistant

The Enterprise Architecture Assistant is a chat interface available directly inside your SAP LeanIX workspace. Ask it questions in natural language, and it answers using your inventory, your architecture decisions, and the external sources you've connected to it.

Enterprise architects tell us that they spend far too much of their time documenting and transcribing survey results, putting together slides for presentations, and copying information from spreadsheets into enterprise architecture repositories. The power of AI can now revolutionize EA, carrying out all of this work instantly while you concentrate on designing and executing an IT landscape that aligns with your organization's strategic goals.

The Enterprise Architecture Assistant will support EAs by:

  • accurately completing data input by collating information from multiple sources
  • conducting research and information-gathering across your landscape
  • creating transformation road map plans based on your current information

This means the Assistant can support you with data research and analysis so that you can take the results and use them to make rapid decisions about your architecture. Then it will help you relay those decisions to your stakeholders and plan ahead for executing them.

The Assistant is grounded in your environment. Answers come from your fact sheets, your decision log, and the sources you've connected, not a generic model trained on the public internet.

For example, you can pose the below prompts to the assistant and get the answers you need:

  • Show me all architecture decisions in the "Proposed" status

  • Are there any architecture decisions related to API strategy?

  • Create a draft architecture decision for adopting a new integration

  • Suggest architecture decisions to create based on the key insights about the architecture

  • Which applications support a given business capability?

  • What does our existing documentation say about this technology?

  • Pull context from connected Confluence Cloud pages into the answer

  • Review the uploaded compliance documents and determine where my fact sheets are missing required fields

Where it fits alongside the MCP Server

SAP LeanIX now offers two ways to bring AI to enterprise architecture work:

  1. The Assistant is the in-workspace chat experience

  2. The MCP Server is the open interface that lets external AI tools (Joule, Copilot, third-party clients) reach SAP LeanIX data through a governed protocol.

Use the Assistant when you're working inside SAP LeanIX and want answers in conversation. Use the MCP Server when you want SAP LeanIX data available to AI tools that live somewhere else.

Try the Enterprise Architecture Assistant now

Two trends are reshaping enterprise architecture at the same time:

  1. EA teams are being asked to govern AI agents, validate transformation plans against business outcomes, and keep landscape data accurate as the rate of change accelerates

  2. Conversational AI is no longer experimental and grounding it in trusted enterprise data is no longer challenging

The Assistant doesn't replace architectural judgment. It removes the data-gathering tax that sits in front of every architecture decision, so the people doing the judgment work can do more of it.
