We’re excited to announce the release of SAP LeanIX target architecture planning. This powerful new capability allows you to compare visual representations of your current landscape and architecture plan with your stakeholders to promote alignment and collaboration.
You've told us that you need intuitive ways to showcase your target architecture and its impact to your stakeholders using diagrams and visualizations. You also explained that it's key for you to be able to highlight the differences between your current and future architectures, and how your plans are evolving.
This new capability will address these challenges, and bring clarity to large-scale transformations and accelerate decision-making. It will also ensure strategic alignment for technical and non-technical stakeholders involved in transformation initiatives.

Design your future and decide to implement it
You can now access target architecture planning within SAP LeanIX. This powerful new capability allows you to create customized diagrams of your current and future enterprise architecture within SAP LeanIX.
Start by designing your template target architecture diagrams and populate it from your inventory data, reference catalog and diagrams. You can also import an existing diagram and leverage the diagram template to create multiple diagrams from the same template.
Going forward, you’ll even be able to link the architecture decisions you’ve documented in SAP LeanIX with relevant diagrams that will help visualize the reasons behind the decisions. This ensures that anyone can understand the intentionality of your choices.
This clarity, however, is just the beginning. Once you’ve visualized the current state of your existing architecture, you can start deriving transformation data from it and maintaining it as your initiative progresses.
You can then link those target architecture diagrams with the initiative documentation in SAP LeanIX, so anyone working on the project can access and share your diagram. This helps align everyone in your organization whether they’re involved in the project or not.
Plan your transformation and commit
With diagrams of your transformation plans in place, you can then start connecting them to your timelines and road maps. Once linked, information from the diagrams will then become available in the transformation explorer, linking your target architecture diagrams with your project milestones and due dates.
Soon, you’ll be able to edit project milestones directly within your road map reports. This means transformation project planning will be simple and accessible to any authorized person in your organization.
We’re even working on synchronizing decisions links, so your architecture decisions will connect across all capabilities within SAP LeanIX. Planning and working in SAP LeanIX is getting easier and simpler all the time.
Govern your new IT landscape
This brings us to the future. The next stage in our target architecture planning road map is to develop further capabilities for you to see how your enterprise architecture and your vision for the future of it has developed over time.
By the end of the year, we plan to introduce capabilities for you to see what parts of your target architecture planning diagrams have changed most often. This allows you to better govern your transformation capability and move your enterprise architecture forward under control.
Not to mention, we’ll be continuing the develop the user interface for SAP LeanIX target architecture planning. This means you’ll be able to oversee all your IT landscape transformations from one place with minimal effort.
