LeanIX Brings Scalable AI Adoption and Governance to Enterprise Architecture

Expansion of feature set in industry-leading enterprise architecture solution allows organizations to accelerate and guide responsible AI adoption at scale

BONN, Germany and BOSTON, USA, May 23, 2024 LeanIX, an SAP company, today announced it has expanded and added to its enterprise architecture (EA) solutions to support scalable AI governance as companies seek to adopt AI responsibly. Having recently made AI capabilities available in its solutions, this expansion further empowers companies to:

  • Make AI adoption visible across the application landscape
  • Establish clear standards for assessing AI risk and business criticality
  • Create a shared understanding of where AI adoption can most benefit the organization
  • Empower EA and IT teams to implement and maintain technical standards for AI adoption
  • Ignite AI innovation throughout the enterprise

A survey conducted by LeanIX earlier this year revealed that 90% of companies see a comprehensive overview of AI usage in the organization as important or very important. At the same time, only 14% of respondents reported having such a comprehensive overview today.

To provide this much-needed visibility into AI adoption, LeanIX has expanded its meta model, adding an “AI Adoption and Governance” section to capture specific AI attributes of applications and IT components. These attributes describe the types of AI in use and how they are used, provide risk assessments based on the EU AI Act, and highlight the potential for AI to enhance the performance of a given application or IT component.

LeanIX has also introduced a new IT component subtype - “LLM” - with a dedicated sector in the technology radar report, allowing for easy visualization of AI in the landscape.

This expansion complements the AI capabilities already available in LeanIX solutions, capabilities making the tool more efficient and helping increase the productivity of enterprise architects. From generating descriptions to performing basic research and making EA recommendations, these AI capabilities empower EA teams and their partners in the business to better understand, update, and work with the data available in LeanIX solutions both to gain meaningful insights and facilitate decision-making.

“AI is already transforming how businesses operate, how they engage with customers, and how people get work done,” said André Christ, General Manager and Co-founder LeanIX. “With the rapid introduction of new legislation in the EU, the US, and elsewhere, the pressing need for effective AI governance becomes very clear. We aim to help companies maximize the potential of AI by making it possible to establish clear sightlines into AI usage while enabling the strategic, scalable adoption of AI wherever it may have the greatest impact.”

“When we talk about AI and EA,” said Rouven Morato, General Manager SAP Signavio and LeanIX, “we need to think about making things easy. Simply put, EA tools should make AI easier to adopt, and AI should make EA tools easier to use. Making sure these two elements consistently reinforce each other is essential for any company interested in remaining competitive into the future.”
